State tobacco-related legislative bills that have been acted on by a state legislative committee or state legislature are listed below alphabetically by state:
Nebraska: Legislative Bill 397, which was passed earlier this session, made a technical change to the definition of “cigarette”, and the new language now includes little cigars in the definition of cigarettes. This means that little cigars will be taxed at the same rate as cigarettes. This bill also requires all brands of little cigars be added to the Nebraska Directory of Certified Tobacco Product Manufacturers and Brands by September 1, 2019 to remain legal to sell in Nebraska. Any little cigar brand not added to the directory by September 1, 2019 will no longer be legal to sell in Nebraska until it is added to the directory.
