State tobacco-related legislative bills that have been acted on by a state legislative committee or state legislature are listed below alphabetically by state:

Hawaii: House Bill 1636, which increases the annual license fee for tobacco retailers from $2.50 to $500.00, the tobacco tax on cigarettes and little cigars from $3.20 per pack to $4.50 per pack and the tax on other tobacco products (not including large cigars) from 70% to 80% of the wholesale price, passed the House Health and Human Services Committee on January 24.

Indiana: House Bill 1380, which increases the cigarette tax by $2.00 per pack and raises the purchase age to 21, will be heard in the House Public Health Committee on January 29, 2018.

New Jersey: Assembly Bill 2185, which prohibits the sale of menthol cigarettes, and Assembly Bill 1601, which requires licensure for manufacturers, distributors, wholesale dealers, and retail dealers of electronic smoking devices and related products, will be heard in the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee on January 29, 2018.

New Mexico: Senate Bill 25, which increases the tax on cigarettes by $1.50 per pack, increases the tax on OTP from 25% to 76% of the product value, and imposes a tax on vapor products at the rate of 76% of the product value, passed the Senate Committee on Committees on January 24, 2018 and also passed the Senate Education Committee on January 25, 2018.

Washington: House Bill 1054, which increases the legal age to purchase tobacco products and vapor products from 18 to 21 years of age, passed the House Finance Committee and moved to the House floor on January 23, 2018. House Bill 2165, which imposes a tax on vapor products at the rate of 60% of the taxable sales price, passed the House Finance Committee and moved to the House floor on January 23, 2018. Senate Bill 6048, which increases the legal age to purchase tobacco products and vapor products, was considered in a public hearing in the Senate Health & Long-Term Care Committee on January 22, 2018. SB6048 remains in committee after no action was taken at the conclusion of the public hearing.

Washington D.C.: DC Bill 460 raises the excise tax on cigarettes by $2.00 per pack, and will be considered in a public hearing scheduled on Thursday, February 1, 2018.
